HOW THE HECK DID I END UP IN TEXAS!

I currently live in Arlington, Texas. I am a transplant yankee, from Yonkers, New York. I lived there and in outlaying towns like Dobbsferry and Tarrytown, New York. In 1976, during the disco years, I joined the Air Force, they decided I should move from New York and try something completely different, the result was Lubbock, TX. When I heard that I was going to the Panhandle of Texas, I was shocked, so while I was in school in Denver, Co., I decided to make my stay there as long as possible! Well, that was the start of my long stay in Texas!

The next ten years I went between Lubbock and FtWorth, with a short tour in Korea (now that was a blast!). I ended up with a lover who persuaded me to settle down, so we loaded up the truck and moved back to Ft Worth. I ended up working at a local meat company (yes, a real one!). That was a fun place to work at. After 6 years the bliss was history and I was once again single! So, I decided it was time to move closer to the party scene of Dallas and I moved to Arlington. Life sure was going great! One year I talked my mother into going on a trip to Europe, and then I was HOOKED! We toured Paris, Amsterdam, Holland, Swisserland, Germany and London. The next year I went back with a friend and we just partied in Paris and Amsterdam til we dropped! He dropped on the stairs of the Webb in Amsterdam though. The next time I went to Paris with a Roomie in the dead of winter, all I can say is thank god for taxis! I've been to Cancun and Ixthapa, Mexico four times but nothing beats europe for partying!
For anyone who intends to visit the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex we've go it all. Our gay district in Dallas is called Oaklawn. The bars are situated on what we call the crossroads that is Cedar Springs and Throckmorton Ave. There you will find what ever kinda bar you normally enjoy. For the light leather/levi crowd there is TMC (Throckmorthon Mining Company). For country, we've got The Roundup. Disco dancing is at the ever popular Village Station, and if you like that kinda music but not the dance floor there is always JR's and Moby's. There are also several restraunts which serve from chinese to burgers, even a Black Eye Pea! Little specialty shops line cedar Springs where you can get your favorite books or even gay pride flag. Of course there are other bars scattered in Dallas but the main concentration is there at the crossroads.

WELL, HERE I AM TO STAY

Well, things havent been all great though, I seem to have nine lives. I rolled my 1976 pinto back in 1977 two times and walked outa it. Then while in Korea my charcoal heating system malfunctioned (prolly cause I was wasted when I changed my charcoal) and I almost died of carbon monoxide poisoning, fortunately my landlord found me in time! Next I had cancer and was misdiagnosed for 5 years when they finally removed the tumor. Then while on vacation in Cancun my kidneys failed completely and when I returned they had to start dialysis immediately. Then I got in a car accident, had my sternum seperated, ribs cracked, heart bruised and ended up with pnemonia ( I had the tubes down my throat that time for four days). The next time was just before New Years and I woke up with pnemonia again, this time they told my mother I wasnt gonna make it, all my organs crashed but I fooled them once again. It hasnt all been bad though! I got a kidney transplant after only one year on dialysis and it's doing just fine, thank god for medical science, even if it costs ya up the ass! Thanks to the use of this computer I have met some fine people from the internet who came and visited me along with my regualar friends. Everytime I hear about all the bad things about the chat groups I just think of all the good things. The newsgroups are full of helpful and caring people. And the chatrooms are too, you just gotta kinda weed them out! You can visit my good friends on IRC on #Gaybigd and #Gaydallas. And say hi to R31S35, Moonster, T-Bird, Armorall, Angelboy, Grandyule and Shyman who all came to visit me and helped cheer me up while I was in the hospital recovering. And titey who called and bugged my mom almost everyday to see how I was doing!
